Menopause supplements in Hong Kong: how to choose

The short answer

Hong Kong shops sell menopause supplements online from about HK$150 to HK$270 a pack. Soy isoflavones have the most evidence for hot flushes. On a Chinese medicine, look for a registration number starting HKC or HKP, and buy across the border only from a seller you can name.

In Hong Kong you can buy a menopause supplement at a pharmacy, a Chinese medicine shop or online on HKTVmall and other shops. Prices we found online run from about HK$150 to HK$270 for a 60 to 90 capsule pack, and the label tells you more than the price does.

This guide covers what is different in Hong Kong: what is sold online today, the registration number on a Chinese medicine box, and what to watch for when you buy across the border. For how the ingredients compare, read our full guide to choosing a menopause supplement.

What menopause supplements are sold in Hong Kong?

Online, the choice is smaller than you might expect. When we searched Watsons Hong Kong online for menopause products, it showed none, only evening primrose oil. Here is what we could buy or see on the day, with the main ingredient of each.

Which ingredient has the most evidence?

When Hong Kong’s Consumer Council looked at menopause supplements, it found that soy and isoflavones were the ingredients with evidence for hot flushes. It found too little evidence for black cohosh, royal jelly, evening primrose oil and collagen. That review dates from 2005, so newer studies exist, but soy isoflavones are still the most researched plant option.

The same review found some labels promising more than a supplement can do. Read the label for what is inside and how much, not for promises.

What does the number on a Chinese medicine box mean?

Many Hong Kong women choose a Chinese medicine for menopause. Every proprietary Chinese medicine sold in Hong Kong must be registered, and the number is printed on the box.

  • HKC- followed by numbers means full registration.
  • HKP- followed by numbers means the older, transitional registration.
  • No number at all on a Chinese medicine is a reason to put it back.

This also applies to Chinese medicines you buy online or bring back from a trip. A soy drink or a vitamin is not a Chinese medicine, so it will not carry this number.

Is it safe to buy across the border or from overseas websites?

It can be, if you know who the seller is. Health warnings in Hong Kong in 2022 and 2025 found prescription drugs hidden in health products bought online, with nothing on the label to say so.

  • Buy from a shop you can name. A brand’s own website or a known Hong Kong shop is safer than an unnamed seller on a cross-border app.
  • Read the full ingredient list. If the box lists no ingredients in Chinese or English, do not take it.
  • Be wary of a product that works “in days”. Plant ingredients take 8 to 12 weeks to judge.
  • Ask a pharmacist about your medicines. Especially if you take a blood thinner or have had a hormone-related cancer.

Common questions

Does MenoLuv deliver to Hong Kong?

Yes. It ships from Malaysia, and delivery is free on orders from HK$800. Below that, delivery is HK$30.

Will I pay tax when MenoLuv arrives?

No. Hong Kong has no sales tax or import duty on supplements, so the price you see is what you pay.

How can I pay?

With a credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, in Hong Kong dollars.

Why is MenoLuv priced higher than a soy capsule?

A soy capsule gives you one ingredient. MenoLuv has 15, including ashwagandha and chasteberry, in a drink you take once a day. Compare what is inside, and the cost per day, before you decide.

How long before I know if it suits me?

Give it 8 to 12 weeks. That is why the 90-day plan is the one most women start with.
